If you’ve driven by Dwyer Elementary recently, you’ve seen some big changes to where the students hold recess.
Due to a push and fundraising effort by the local Parent Teachers Association (PTA) last spring, newer and safer equipment was provided for the students.
A new jungle gym with slides, monkey bars and a soft landing spot thanks to the landscaping “bark” has left quite an impression a several youths before school has even started.
“This is so awesome,” said an exuberant Caleb Shuck, an incoming second-grader at Dwyer, as he bolted down the bigger, individual slide.
Caleb was joined by his sister, Cierra Shuck, and Chloe Banks on Friday, Aug. 23 at the playground — and it looked as though they had not a worry in the world.
“I wish I could play here now,” Banks, who will be attending Lincoln when school starts, said about her former school playground. “I wish we had this when this was my school.”
For the second year in a row, the Anaconda PTA has raised money by holding an uber-popular adult Bingo Night at the Elks Club. For the latest fundraiser, the PTA raised over $25,000 — funds which went directly into building the modern, and much safer, playground equipment.
The pictures say it all.
