Thunder and lightning loomed large Tuesday night, but the most electric thing at the Anaconda Country Club was the play of Locker Room/Haufbrau. The leaders entering the final week dismantled their nearest competition, Carmel’s Sports Bar, by 16 points to win the second half.
The win sets up a championship showdown between first half champions S&N Concrete and Locker Room/Haufbrau next week.
ABC/Coors Light had a massive night of their own, scoring 27 points to move into second place. ACC Pro Shop and Cedar Park/Carmel’s ended the second half tied at 128.5, and the two sides will meet in second place matchup of next week’s position round.
In the position round, the first and second half champions will meet to determine the season champion. After the championship match, teams are placed in order of total points through both halves and play each other to determine the final standings.
Carmel’s Sports Bar and ABC/Coors Light will meet in the third place match, with Pad-n-Pencil and Longfellow’s meeting to round out the top half of the league.
Cory Donahue had the lowest round of the night, firing off an even-par round of 36 on the back nine. Lee Klemann won big, shooting a 39 that adjusted to the lowest net score on the night at 29.5. He also added a deuce for icing on the cake.
Bruce Grabofsky, Rob Kellegher and Jack Mehrens also put two’s on the scorecard, and Frank Moreni picked up his second consecutive closest to the pin honor, a competition he has mastered all season long.
